Dancing in the Dark
Even in the dark, the West can give most other regions a run for their money. And we charge less to have fun too.
The West may not be the gastronomic capital of the UK, but it comes pretty close, whether in the form of a pint of real ale and a pasty in the local pub, or freshly caught lobster with a glass of Camel Valley. If almost 20 Michelin stars isn't enough to satisfy us, we've even gone and rustled up the best fish and chips in the country and we're already offering training to budding young Jamie Olivers at an organic cookery school (okay, we're just showing off now).
From undiscovered chefs to future thespians, the theatre scene has always played a vibrant part in West Country culture. Predictably different though, we balance the traditional with the unusual: you'll find a stunning open air theatre carved out of a cliff front and a tobacco factory saved from demolition at the 11th hour, and now home to some of the best Shakespeare productions in the country.
And just to prove there's something unique about the West, where else in the country can you watch 30 enormous balloons light up to music in a spectacular choreographed after-dark display?
Exactly.
